Do you need change, do you want to help your loved one struggling with substance use but haven't found what works ... yet? Have you tried methods and tools and just need some guidance and support to apply them in your life? Do you want to connect with others to empower your love and inspire change and possibility?
Then you're invited to the Inspired Hearts ~ Invitation to Change (ITC) Family Member Group!
Join me and co-facilitators, Barb Klein and Paula Browne as we dive into a new way to be with your loved one who struggles with substance use. Bring kindness, compassion, and evidence based practices to your relationships as you become part of creating conditions for change within your family.
The group will begin on Wednesday, January 18 - May 10, 2023 (no sessions 2/22 or 4/5)
Sessions are held on Zoom 4:30-6 PM Pacific / 6:30-8 PM Central / 5:30-7 PM Mountain / 7:30-9 PM Eastern
This is a Learning and Practice Group, as opposed to a support group – we will be sharing tools, concepts, and practices from the ITC model each week and asking you to practice with them between calls.
We welcome family members of those struggling with substance use issues.
Learn how to encourage change for you and your loved one, in a place of openness and support.
This group uses the Invitation to Change Approach (ITC) as the basis for our discussions. This approach is grounded in compassion, connection, and the belief that you are not powerless – you can do something to help your loved one. ITC is based on the evidence-based practices of CRAFT, Motivational Interviewing, and ACT. In this Learning Group, connect with a supportive community and engage with tools and techniques to use in your daily life.
Topics from the ITC Approach include:
● How to understand your loved one’s behavior ● What makes someone decide to change? ● What if they don’t want to change? ● Figuring out what will work for your loved one and for you ● Talking about substance use ● Practical tools for encouraging change ● Taking care of yourself on this journey ● How to stay connected when things are hard
